Timejinx (stylized as "Time JINX") is the third game in The Jackbox Party Pack 10. It is a trivia game where players play as time travelers who together travel through time to answer the year in which certain events took place.

Premise[]

Jerri Rig has gathered the players, who are her friends and also time travelers, for a trivia night. The players answer questions by each traveling to years in the past and the future in which an event took place.

Gameplay[]

Each round, Jerri will give you a historical event and a 15-60 year range of when it happened. Players are to input a guess of the year it took place, in order to "travel to" that year. Players gain one point for each year their answer differs from the correct answer (The lowest score wins).

When two or more players travel to the same year, the game will point out a "Jinx!". This has no effect on gameplay.

Special Rounds[]

After 3 questions are answered, the game will provide a special round to help players keep their lead or lose more points. There are three types of rounds: TimeHop, TimeLoop, and TimeFix.

In TimeHop, players travel to 3 different parties in different decades. A random stranger will talk to the players about something that was popular at the time, and players must pick the correct response to blend in. For example, when the partygoer mentions E. Honda, the player must choose the option that mentions the video game E. Honda comes from[1].

In TimeLoop, players are asked 2 questions pertaining to an event in history. After both are asked, the timeline loops and players are allowed to change their answer if they wish. On the second time around, the game highlights one option with a comment like "This was the most selected option" or "This can't be right, can it?".

In TimeFix, players are alerted to 2 timeline disturbances they must correct. Players are given a year and something that happened that year, with one ridiculous alteration. For example, it could say that the name "D-Day" is given to the date of formation of the comedy band Tenacious D, and the players must choose the correct meaning of "D-Day"[2].

After each one of these special rounds, 10% of a player's points are deducted for each answer they answer correctly.

At some point during Round 2 or 3, Jerri will mention that the time traveling has caused one of two events to occur:

In one event, players are alerted of a historical figure's impostor being on the loose. Both figures will state the same fact about that historical figure, with one specific difference. The players must choose which statement is correct. (Despite the controller saying "Spot the impostor", you must NOT choose the impostor! Listen to Jerri who says to "pick the real version"!) A 20% point deduction is rewarded for players who answer correctly. For example, Napoleon and his imposter may mention barely being either 4 feet or 5 feet tall. In this case, the version who says he is barely 5 feet tall would be correct.

In the other, an image featuring the location of a famous landmark is shown, but the landmark itself has been replaced. Players will have to identify the location of the image, rather than the landmark that should be there, between the two provided choices. A 20% point deduction is rewarded for players who answer correctly. For example, the Big Ben may be replaced by some other kind of tower, and the two options are Rome and London. In this case, London would be correct.

Final Round[]

During the final round of the game, players are to travel to the future year of an event. Jerri will say it's either 100 or 1,000 years after a different historical event takes place. Instead of gaining points at all, players receive a score deduction based on how close they got to the answer.

Trivia[]

  • Jerri's name is a play on the word jerry-rigged, meaning organized or constructed in a crude or improvised manner.
  • In the background, the severed arm of the Stereo Robot from Mad Verse City can be spotted.
  • There are two name easter eggs:
    • Typing in "Gene" as your name gives you an avatar of Gene from Survive the Internet.
    • Typing in "Jerri" as your name gives you an avatar of Jerri herself.
  • In the background of the TimeFix round, a beaker with black liquid labeled "X" can be seen. This could be a reference to the chemical X from The Powerpuff Girls.
  1. In this case, Street Fighter II.
  2. In this case, the Normandy landings in WWII
