Hypnotorious is the fourth game announced for The Jackbox Party Pack 10. It’s a game where you and your fellow players take part in a virtual stage show where our host, a mysterious hypnotist, mesmerizes you, then gives you a character to play.

Each player will be keeping their characters somewhat secret because the game is all about deducing each other’s identities. The characters all fit into one of three, secret categories. The categories might be as simple as “Dogs, Cats or Mice,” or they might be something a bit more challenging like “Popular in the 80s, 90s or 2000s.” It’s up to player to figure it out.

Once players answer their questions, you’ll each try to group up based on perceived similarities. The players that group up accurately, score a lot of points, so talking it out is key.

There is one player who does not fit in at all! They are The Outlier. For each group of categories, one category will only have one player. So, there might be one dog, two cats and three mice. To score big points, player will need to identify the Outlier before it’s too late. And the kicker is, The Outlier doesn’t know they’re The Outlier. They’ll be trying to figure it out like everyone else. So don’t give too much away or you might talk yourself into trouble.

Trivia[]

  • If the game has only four players, there will be two categories instead of three.
  • The game plays very similarly to the French board game "Le Monde est Fou", where players play the role a psychiatrist and crazed patients. Patients pick a card depicting a selection of quirks, and need to respond to questions asked by the psychiatrist with the quirk they selected. The goal of the game for the patients is to stump the psychiatrist, where the psychiatrist's goal is to successfully guess what quirk the patients have.
  • Unlike most Jackbox games, players are able to accuse themselves.
  • For the duration of a day: the hypnotist took over Jackbox Games' Twitter account, using it to ask readers to answer prompts based on a given character or object; the best response to each prompt would enter that user into a raffle for a Steam code for Pack 10.[↑]
    • This is the third time a Jackbox character took over Jackbox's Twitter account, the first two times being with Gene and The Wheel.
