"One's made of skin, one's made of wood, so Who's The Dummy? Not me!"
- Who's The Dummy question bumper, You Don't Know Jack: 2011.

Billy O'Brien is a ventriloquist puppet owned by Cookie Masterson. He was first introduced in You Don't Know Jack 2011 and has appeared in other subsequent entries of the series since, as well as making appearances in other Jackbox Games.

Appearances[]

You Don't Know Jack (series)[]

During the first episode of You Don't Know Jack 2011, Cookie reveals that he has been practicing ventriloquism and introduces everyone to his ventriloquist puppet - Billy O'Brien. In both this game and the 2015 version, Billy hosts his own question type where he asks straight forward questions, but with a speech impediment. As the games go on, Cookie gradually becomes more annoyed with Billy and starts to find him a nuisance more than anything, something that Billy seems to revel in. Cookie even shows joy when the player wins him in the final non-DLC episode of You Don’t Know Jack 2011 should the player get the wrong answer of the game in “Cookie Masterson’s eBay store. In You Don't Know Jack 2015 a female version of Billy is introduced called Betty, though it is heavily implied that it is just Billy wearing a wig.

In You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream, Billy makes cameo appearances in some of the recommended shows between questions. There's a possible special question where Billy returns to host a one-off Who's The Dummy? question, he then buts in to host an Octopus, Coffee, Queen Elizebeth or Frankenstein question after Cookie Masterson fibs about Binjpipe cutting the songs. At the end of the games with this special question, an extra show of Binjpipe bonus Content shows some bloopers of Cookie attempting to introduce Billy to the players, with the pair revealing that they missed each other at the end.

Monster Seeking Monster[]

Billy O'Brien is one of the possible monsters a player can be in Monster Seeking Monster. Billy's power in this game is that he gains a bonus heart when dating someone that was rejected the night before. He is the only monster in the game based on a previous Jackbox character.

The Devils and the Details

For less than a second in the very beginning of the intro to The Devils and The Details, Billy can be seen floating in some unidentified neon orange liquid.

Job Job

Billy has a chance of randomly appearing on screen during the countdown when players are typing, greeting the audience with a simple "Hey yo!" before disappearing after a few seconds. During the phase where players read what they wrote, a framed picture of him and Bubz in some sort of friendly embrace can be seen in the background. What this implies in terms of their relationship is currently unknown.

Junktopia

For a split second in the intro/trailer, Billy can be seen sticking his head out of a window in a tall building. What this means, in context of him being present where Junktopia takes place, is unknown.

Tee K.O. 2[]

Billy O'Brien appears as one of the possible characters that can be seen flying in the PNG plane during the t-shirt creation process.

Trivia[]

Billy O'Brien Replica Dummy (Awarded for finding the episode 73 wrong answer of the game in the XBOX release of You Don't Know Jack: 2011)

  • Billy's speech impediment is based on the ventriloquism technique of substituting letters. Cookie, being the ventriloquist, says that he is having trouble with the letters P, B and M. All of these letters are misrepresented in Billy's questions and answers with their substitute letters of T, D and N respectively.
  • Billy makes a few cameo appearances throughout the Jackbox Party Pack.
    • In Joke Boat, there's a puppet based on his likeness.
    • In Split the Room, Mayonnaise has a chance to shape-shift into Billy during the prompt fill-in process.
    • In Job Job, he may randomly appear while the players are writing their answers.
    • In Tee K.O. 2, he has a chance to cameo on the plane while players are drawing, sporting his 2011/2015 design instead of his MSM or Joke Boat redesign.
  • He, like many many other characters, appears on the Quixort Forever online scoreboards, ranking number 57 with a score of 9,650.
